Nina Waechter has been appointed as the director of enrollment at Ross School in East Hampton, effective July 17. Waechter brings over 25 years of experience in independent schools.
Prior to joining Ross School, Waechter served as the director of admissions and recruitment at Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset. She also held the position of director of admissions and financial aid at Friends Academy in Locust Valley, where she successfully increased enrollment, promoted diversity, and managed financial aid distribution across grade levels.
During her tenure at Friends Academy, Waechter actively engaged with student applicants, fostering personal connections and introducing them to various aspects of the school community. She involved faculty, staff, and current families in the admissions process, ensuring a comprehensive and welcoming experience for prospective families, according to a press released issued by the Ross School last week.
Before her time at Friends Academy, she worked at Convent of the Sacred Heart in Manhattan, where she held various positions, including lower school teacher, creative arts junior program director, associate director of admissions, and director of middle and high school admissions.
Waechter’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in English from Bucknell University and a Masters of Education in Reading from Loyola University Maryland. She holds teaching certifications and has completed leadership programs through the Queens College Educational Leadership Program. She has also been actively involved in the educational community, serving on committees, presenting at conferences, and holding board memberships in admissions associations.
