East Hampton Library’s 17th annual Authors Night fundraiser runs Thursday, August 12, to Sunday, August 15, and will be taking place both online and in-person.

“We’re looking forward to transitioning this year’s Authors Night fundraiser to a hybrid series of in-person and online events, allowing us to connect our community and the literary world in a dynamic new way,” said East Hampton Library Director Dennis Fabiszak. “In addition to the scaled-down version of our traditional Authors Night cocktail party book signing event on August 14, the online Authors Night conversation series taking place August 12-15 features an impressive list of participating authors in live conversation with noted interviewers.

“As we mark the 17th anniversary of Authors Night, we’re thankful for the outstanding generosity, participation, and support for the event that we’ve received from both the local and literary communities,” he added. “The funds raised at Authors Night enable the library to provide our diverse community with essential programming and services throughout the year — all free of charge.”

Interactive online author conversations will be running all four days of the fundraiser. The one-hour Zoom events are a conversation between the featured author and a noted interviewer, followed by a moderated Q&A period with the participating online audience. Participating authors are David W. Blight, Michael Eric Dyson, Tovah Feldshuh, Dan Glickman, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Harold Koplewicz, Don Lemon, Thomas Maier, Zibby Owens, Allison Pataki, Owen Pataki, Marcus Samuelsson, Michael Shnayerson, Suzanne Simard, Alan Steinfeld, Dr. Ruth Westheimer and Alan Zweibel.

Tickets are $20 per event with advanced purchase required. The complete schedule is available at authorsnight.org.

On Friday, August 13, at 6 p.m., a free book talk and performance with musicians Taylor Barton and G.E. Smith will be held outdoors at the library.

On Saturday, August 14, from 4 to 6 p.m., a book signing cocktail party will be held outdoors under a tent on the library grounds, where guests will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with a select group of authors, buy their books, and have them personally inscribed.

Participating authors are: Taylor Barton, Bill Boggs, Robert A. Caro, Tom Clavin, Deborah Copaken, Stacy Dermont and Hillary Davis, Florence Fabricant, Amanda Fairbanks, Dan Glickman, Jack Graves, Joshua M. Greene, Noel Hankin, Alice Harris, John Kurdewan and Steven Stolman, Mike Lupica, Jeffrey Lyons, Thomas Maier, Michael Shnayerson and Alan Zweibel.

Tickets for the book signing start at $150 and are limited, with advanced purchase required. East Hampton Library is at 159 Main Street, East Hampton. Tickets are available online at authorsnight.org, at the East Hampton Library and by phone at 631-324-0222.
