The Springs Community Library will present “Springs Women: Small Works at the Library,” an exhibition curated by Casey Dalene, featuring the work of eight talented female artists who live and work in Springs. Running from June 8 to June 29, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience the creative vitality of the Springs community, with all sales benefiting the Springs Historical Society. The community is invited to an opening reception on Sunday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Springs Library. The show features the art of Beth Barry, Jessica Dalene, Emma Field, Kym Fulmer, Laurie Hall, Kristy Schopper, Alison Seiffer, Mari Thomas, Sara VanDerBeek and Lucy Villeneuve.

Springs has long been a haven for artists, nurturing a legacy of creativity that includes groundbreaking figures like Lee Krasner, Miriam Shapiro, and Joan Semmel, whose bold visions shaped the Abstract Expressionist movement. Drawing on this rich history, “Springs Women: Small Works at the Library” highlights the ongoing influence of women artists in the community, celebrating their contributions through a selection of works that are 12” x 12” or smaller, including a few small-scale sculptures.

Curator Casey Dalene, a Springs resident and dedicated advocate for the local arts community, has selected works that capture the diverse perspectives of these artists. From delicate landscapes inspired by the natural beauty of Springs to abstract compositions that echo the energy of the area’s artistic heritage, each piece is a testament to the enduring creative spirit of the Springs artistic community.

The show will be on view during regular library hours. Springs Library is at One Parsons Place, across from Ashawagh Hall in Springs. Visit springshistoricalsociety.org for details.
