Katherine Bernhardt and Tripoli Gallery will present “A Magical Day At Ditch,” a group exhibition that focuses on the high-spirited vibrations of the summer in the Hamptons. The show, which will be on view at Tripoli Gallery in Wainscott from August 18 to September 18 and opens with a reception on Friday, August 18, from 6 to 8 p.m., channels the joy and life style of the beach, and seeks to bring warmth into the gallery, with a cool current, and subtle undertow.
Visitors to the gallery are encouraged to pretend their feet are in the sand with the option of letting go of any negative emotions, to release any fear or uncertainty of the future, and enjoy the unfiltered magic of August on the East End.
A continuation of a summer 2017 group show curated by Bernhardt, each of the invited artists contributes work that strives to remind viewers of the power they all have to make each day great. Through collective imaginations and conscious decision making, art has the power to not only reflect the artist but also conjure something in the viewer. Anyone who surfs at Ditch Plains knows that it is not about being the best. You won’t be judged for having the highest performance and the winner is whoever has the most fun. On the sand you can be anything you want to be, most specifically happy. “A Magical Day at Ditch: provides an opportunity to gather at the gallery in Wainscott to celebrate art, artists, and the energy of a summer weekend on the beach (sunscreen and umbrellas unnecessary).
Artists featured in the show are: Katherine Bernhardt, Katherine Bradford, Vaughn Davis Jr., Sabra Moon Elliot, Travis Fish, Jason Fox, Markus Jahmal, Yung Jake, Deborah Keaton, Dan McCarthy, Scott Reader, Adrianne Rubenstein and Jerry Wilkerson.
