Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Boots on the Ground Theater returns to the Southampton Cultural Center stage to present A.R. Gurney’s “Love Letters.” The two-hander runs Friday, February 14, to Saturday, February 16, and it stars Bonnie Grice and Matthew O’Connor.

The script offers an emotional portrait of the powerful connection of love between two friends, rebellious Melissa Gardner (played by Grice, founder of the theater company) and straight-arrow Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (played by O’Connor). The play follows the two friends beginning in childhood as they exchange notes, cards and letters with one another for over 50 years. From second grade through college and on into adulthood, they have spent a lifetime discussing their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointment. But long after the letters are done, the real question remains: after all their letters, have they made the right choices?

Performances of “Love Letters” will be presented at SCC at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Feburary14 and 15, and at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 16. Tickets are $25 ($15 students) at scc-arts.org. Southampton Cultural Center is at 25 Pond Lane in Southampton.
