Fans of all things that slither and crawl will want to be sure to join the South Fork History Museum (SOFO) for a special four-week Zoom presentation featuring “Erik the Reptile Guy & His Reptile Edventures!”

The series kicks off with Erik Callender on June 6, with “The Greatest Reptile & Amphibian Show,” an introduction to reptiles and amphibians from around the world. The one-hour presentation features Odyss the five- foot American alligator and Twinkie a 14-foot python, to name just tow. Participants will learn the differences between reptiles and amphibians and determine which ones you can find in the backyard.

On June 13, Erik takes on turtles and tortoises, offering introductions to Froucho, a 50-pound alligator snapping turtle, Dozer a 40-pound African spur thigh tortoise, while exploring how these animals have survived in nature for millions of years. He will also offer tips on turtle watching and share ideas for helping turtles during #turtleegglayingmonth.

The June 20 session will be about frogs and toads from Northeast America and from around the world. Learn how to listen and locate frogs and toads in the neighborhood and discover how to help frogs thrive in harmony with humans.

Finally, on June 27, tune in for “Snakes of the World!” and learn about the world’s largest Anacondas of South America and the tiniest snakes of Madagascar, as well as the common garter snakes of North America.

All classes run from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be a nominal fee for each of Erik’s classes: $15 for an individual, $20 for two guests, $25 for a family of up to five. To reserve your spots and to register, visit below:
