The Hampton Theatre Company will hold another round of auditions for its spring production, the hilarious backstage farce Moon Over Buffalo" by Ken Ludwig, on Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. at the Quogue Community Hall on Jessup Avenue in Quogue. The play, about an aging leading couple on tour in the provinces, has roles for four men and four women.
At the center of the action are George and Charlotte Hay, stars of stage and screen now in their 50s but still playing leading roles usually reserved for actors in their 20s and 30s. Now, though, they are playing them in places like Buffalo.
Joining them in the mayhem of their lives is Charlotte's 70-something cranky and deaf actress mother, Ethel, as well as George and Charlotte's bright and attractive daughter, Rosalind (20s-30s), who is doing her darnedest to escape the theatrical life. Added to the mix as well are Rosalind's nice looking, non-theatrical fiancé, Howard (late 20s-30s); Eileen, a beautiful young ingenue (20s); Paul (30s), a likable young actor and ex-suitor of Rosalind who is serving as George and Charlotte's assistant; and Richard (50s), a wealthy attorney to the stars and admirer of Charlotte.
Rehearsals for "Moon Over Buffalo" will begin on April 22 with performances running from May 29 through June 15, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, at the Quogue Community Hall. Jason Marr directs.
Readings will be from the script. No monologue or appointment is necessary. To receive a copy of the audition scenes or for more informantion, e-mail hamptontheatre@optonline.net. or call 726-4656.
