'Abstract Thinking' At Ezra Gallery In Sag Harbor

authorStaff Writer on Jul 6, 2019

The East End has been home to many of the world’s best Abstract Expressionists or “Action Painters.” On Sunday, July 14, the Ezra Gallery of the Hamptons located in Sag Harbor’s Center for Jewish Life opens an exhibition titled “Abstract Thinking” with a reception from 4 to 6:30 p.m.

Curated by Kimberly Goff of the Elaine Benson Gallery, the show includes works from the collection of Elaine Benson mixed in with artists who were represented by the gallery—among them Hans Van de Bovenkamp, who started showing with Benson in 1968, and Carol Hunt and Ty Stroudsburg who were regulars throughout the gallery’s 40-plus year history—as well as a few newcomers.

Other particiating artists are Eric Ernst, Kimberly Goff, Diana Leviton Gondek, Tracy Harris, Nathan Slate Joseph, Joan Klutch, Elaine de Kooning, Zero Mostel, Alfonso Ossorio, Danny Simmons and Esteban Vicente.

The Ezra Gallery of the Hamptons is located at 24 Long Island Avenue, across from the Sag Harbor Post Office. The show is on view Sunday through Tuesday and Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and by appointment.
