On Saturday, June 7, at 8 p.m., Guild Hall will host “An Evening With John Cameron Mitchell” after he leads the 4th Annual Hamptons Pride Parade as the grand marshal. A Tony Award-winning stage and screen legend, Mitchell is one of alt-culture’s most fearless creators. The intimate evening at Guild Hall will showcase songs and stories from his career. Tickets for his performance are $25 to $110.
Mitchell directed, starred in and wrote, with Stephen Trask, the film “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” (2001), for which he won Best Director at the Sundance Festival and was nominated for a Golden Globe as Best Actor. His Broadway production of “Hedwig” garnered him Tony Awards for his performance and for Best Revival. He won an Obie Award for “Hedwig” Off-Broadway as well for as starring in Larry Kramer’s “The Destiny of Me.”
In conjunction with the Hamptons Pride Parade, on Saturday, May 31, Sag Harbor Cinema will screen the film “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” at 7 p.m. Mitchell will take part in a Q&A via Zoom.
Another happening during Pride month at Guild Hall will be “Hairy Situation — A Comedy Show” by ALOK on June 28. ALOK is an internationally acclaimed writer, comedian and performance artist whose work blends sharp humor, vulnerability and activism. As a gender nonconforming, transfeminine artist of Indian descent, they will explore themes of identity, gender and belonging with wit and poetic insight. Tickets are $25 to $75.
