This summer, more than two dozen local artists contributed their considerable talents to decorate or create birdhouses, for Bridge Gardens’ Birdhouse Exhibition and Auction. The birdhouses have been on display since June 29, but now, sadly, August is upon us and summer, the show and the auction are coming to an end.

On Saturday, August 17, join the staff of Bridge Gardens and the Peconic Land Trust for the closing reception from 4 to 6 p.m. Winning bidders of the birdhouses will be announced at 5:30 p.m. Participating artists included: Helen Bass, Harvey Bernstein, Scott Bluedorn, Rob Calvert, Caroline Cassa, Michael Cinque, Robin Drake and Kiki Boucher, Terry Elkins, Jeanne Fallot, Kym Fulmer, Melinda Hackett, Brian Kennedy, Veronica Mezzina, Jeanelle Myers, Charles Northshield, Lesley Obrock, Cindy Pease Roe, Marcia Previti, John D. Rose and John Koronkiewicz, Lisa Rose, Jay Schneiderman, Barbara Stype, NancyLynn Thiele, Barbara Thomas, Pete Treiber, Patrick Walden, and Cynthia Wells.

Though the high season may soon be at an end, there’s still a lot to love at Bridge Gardens.

“While all the seasons at the garden have their beauty, summer and fall is when the gardens are in full bloom,” says garden manager Rick Bogusch.

So with fall on the horizon, mark your calendars for Bridge Gardens’ Autumn Open House and Family Fair. It’s Saturday, October 26, from 1 to 4 p.m., and will be a day filled with nature-themed arts and crafts, scavenger hunt, demonstrations, and refreshments for all.

Bridge Gardens is at 36 Mitchell Lane in Bridgehampton. For more information visit peconiclandtrust.org.
