The Neo-Political Cowgirls dance theater collective will present its 6th annual Andromeda’s Sisters event, a gala of arts and advocacy celebrating women of creativity and courage, at The Leiber Collection in East Hampton on June 17.
The event runs from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and uses arts and conversation to celebrate women, amplify imperative issues and inspire activation to peoples-solve with world-vision building.
The Cowgirls will be lifting a glass to honorary chairwoman, Hamptons Film Executive Director Anne Chaisson, and presenting its second Andromeda Award to a passionate East End woman who is tireless in her giving to the community. This year’s award will go to Anna Skrenta for her efforts in supporting the work for local housing and getting community members to the voting polls.
Celebrated local musician Inda Eaton plays and Neo-Political Cowgirls performers offer ambient performance. A reading of Jennifer Meisel’s one act play, “The Yellow Wallpaper” comes to life with “Walking Dead” actress Paola Lázaro, directed by Kate Mueth.
An energized conversation moderated by Free The Work Executive Director and 2022 Ms. Foundation Women of Vision awardee, Pamela Buzick Kim, will close the evening. New York Times bestselling author Meghan O’Rourke, trauma therapist Térèse Kempf and New York Presbyterian pediatrics emergency Dr. Adetunbi Ayeni are slated to speak with Buzick Kim about their experiences, work and committed efforts with the urgent health care concerns for women and people of color.
Tickets are $150 to $500 at npcowgirls.org. The Leiber Collection is at 446 Old Stone Highway in East Hampton.
