Become an animator for the day! In collaboration with Laura Bellmont of The Little Animation Studio, on Sunday, December 4, The Church in Sag Harbor is presenting a stop-motion animation workshop for students and adults, respectively. Working with state-of-the-art professional equipment and software, participants will have the opportunity to design and produce their own short films that can be screened, downloaded, and shared again and again.
The student workshop runs noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by the adult workshop from 4 to 6 p.m.
In the student workshop, in just an hour and a half, participants will explore the magic of hand-drawn stop motion animation using professional software DragonFrame Stop Motion. Students will be divided into teams, each of which will produce and design unique hand-drawn characters and environments that tell one-of-a-kind short stories about dreamed up worlds. The finished films will be edited together into a collaborative animated short film that can be screened, downloaded, and shared. The cost is $10.
During the 2-hour hands-on stop motion animation and drawing workshop for adults, participants will explore the potential of the hand-drawn line under the lens. Utilizing DragonFrame Stop Motion, participants will use a self-portrait video of themselves to create a “rotoscope animation.” Frame by frame these vibrant short films/self-portraits will come to life. The finished films will be edited together into a collaborative animated short film that can be screened, downloaded, and shared. The cost is $65.
