The 12th annual ARTSI (Artists Of Shelter Island) Open Studios Tour, which draws art lovers from all over Long Island, returns on Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21, from noon to 5 p.m. both days.

ARTSI is a Shelter Island based community of approximately 23 professional artists who work together on various cultural events and exhibitions. Fifteen ARTSI artists are opening their studios this year offering viewers a wide range of styles and mediums from oil paint to collage to sculpture to digital.

“I love furthering relationships with existing local collectors and art enthusiasts, while opening my door to new ones. It’s like having a solo show in your own home — in a season that is ‘art-world prime time’ in the Hamptons,” said Roz Dimon, who paints with a digital brush.

Multimedia artist Katherine Hammond also appreciates the rare opportunity to welcome visitors into her studio. “I create art for two reasons: to experience the ecstasy of creative expression and to bring joy to others,” she said. Working alone in my studio it’s easy to forget the second reason, but our annual open studios tour never fails to remind me of the pure delight of seeing people interacting with my work.”

There is no charge for admission, no ticketing, just a “walk-in” welcome at the open studios of participating artists Sally Jacobs Baker, Linda Brienza, Janet Culbertson, Kathryn A. Cunningham, Dee DeBenardis, Roz Dimon, Laurie Dolphin, Melora Griffis, Katherine Hammond, Lily Hoffman, Diana Malcolmson, Jackie Pullman, Linda Puls, June Shatken and Peter Waldner.
