As part of its “Finest in World Cinema” series, the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will screen director Claire Denis’s touching drama, “35 Shots of Rum” on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 25, at 1 and 4 p.m.

Set among a small circle of friends and neighbors in a Parisian suburb, “35 Shots of Rum” has been hailed by critics as a “warm, funny and enchanting film.”

Lionel, a metro conductor, lives with his beautiful university student daughter, Josephine, in a bustling apartment complex. They have shared the same space for many years and have grown accustomed to one another’s company. Lately, Josephine has been spending a lot of time with Noé, a handsome young neighbor, while Lionel is finding himself drawn into a romance with his close friend, Gabrielle. As their lives are pulled in different directions, father and daughter realize they must confront an aspect from their past in order to embrace what lies ahead.

The film casts a lovely spell while exploring the mysterious complexities that surround evolving relationships, whether romantic or parental.

“35 Shots of Rum” is in French and German with English subtitles, not rated, and 100 minutes long.

For ticket information, call the PAC box office at 288-1500, or visit www.whbpac.org.
