Last summer, Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC) piloted “Mommy Moments,” a program aimed at empowering women, specifically moms, on the East End and beyond.
This summer, the program has been transformed into “The Moment,” a new initiative to connect residents with renowned experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs working in various fields of interest. In the coming weeks, speakers will share their expertise in hour-long Monday morning seminars designed to engage participants in hands-on learning and adult education.
The first guest on July 8, is Justin DeMarco of Justin’s Chop Shop in Westhampton Beach. He will present “The Art of the Grill” and share his tips for cutting, curing and preparing cuts of meat for summer barbecuing. Next up on July 22, will be “Hope on Fire” by Teresa Lawsky of The Laurus Project who will share tips on health and wellness along with an overview of her organization, which works to save and empower individuals affected by breast cancer. On August 5, makeup artist Cherise Loren will present “Tips on Effortless, Radiant Beauty,” giving skincare and makeup advice, while discussing her favorite products. Finally, on August 12, plastic surgeon Dr. Sachin Shridharani will present “Maximizing Your Look with Minimally Invasive Treatments,” offering his expertise on surgical procedures, what to look for when getting them done, and how to find the best fit for you.
“The Moment” at WHBPAC is the brainchild of consultant and longtime WHBPAC supporter Colette Lettieri. This past spring, she approached Julienne Penza-Boone, director of arts education at WHBPAC, with the idea of a program to engage and empower adults in the community.
“The Moment has been the first step toward the Arts Academy’s adult education program, and it has been incredible to watch this spark of an idea catch fire. We’re so grateful to Colette for her inspiring work on this initiative,” Ms. Penza-Boone said in a statement.
Ms. Lettieri is now looking to expand her outreach to adults of all ages by offering a bit of something for everyone. She serves as the curator of “The Moment,” booking a wide variety of successful entrepreneurs to share their expertise. Each “Moment” takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at WHBPAC, 76 Main Street, Westhampton Beach. To reserve a seat for one of the upcoming sessions, call Ms. Penza-Boone at 631-288-2350 ext. 114 or email juliennep@whbpac.org.
