Elyssa Friedland’s novel, “The Floating Feldmans,” tells the story of three generations of a semi-estranged family who reluctantly come together to celebrate the matriarch’s 70th birthday on a Caribbean cruise. On Friday, August 23, Ms. Friedland comes to Southampton Books to discuss and sign copies of the vacation novel.

This is Ms. Friedland's third novel (her others are "The Intermission” and “Love and Miss Communication”). In "The Floating Feldmans," the author, who lives in New York City and has a home on the East End, explores “how the open seas can bring submerged feelings to the surface as a disconnected family is forced to confront each other — and the secrets they’re keeping — while on board the Ocean Queen.”

She’ll be signing and discussing her book, which is available at the store, from 6 to 9 p.m. Southampton Books is at 16 Hampton Road in Southampton. For details, visit southamptonsagharborbooks.com.
