Romany Kramoris Gallery will present a joint exhibition of works by Barbara Groot and Adriana Barone from Thursday, September 11, through October 2. A reception for the artists will be held Saturday, September 13, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Barbara Groot, based in East Hampton, draws inspiration from the natural light and beauty of the East End. Her bold, lyrical canvases feature sweeping brushstrokes and layered color that evoke musical phrasing and spatial freedom. Groot, who studied costume design at UCLA and once worked in the Manhattan fashion industry, describes her process as one driven by discovery and “happy accidents.”

Adriana Barone, a graduate of Pratt Institute, shifted her focus from art direction to energy healing after moving to Sag Harbor in 1994. She later returned to her artistic practice, creating dynamic works that explore spontaneity, intuition and emotional tension. Her mixed-media paintings combine mark making, imagery and humor, often navigating moments of struggle and breakthrough in the creative process.

The exhibition highlights the distinct yet complementary visions of both artists—Groot’s open, gestural abstractions and Barone’s layered, expressive experimentation.

Romany Kramoris Gallery is located at 41 Main Street, Sag Harbor. For more information, visit kramorisgallery.com.
