Bay Street To Hold Auditions For Mainstage Season

author on Jan 24, 2017

Bay Street Theater and Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is holding four auditions dates for its summer Mainstage Season.

The season begins with the world premiere of the musical “The Man in the Ceiling” with book by Jules Feiffer and music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa. Jeffrey Seller directs.

The actors will play two parts: Friends and family of the protagonist, Jimmy, and the comic book characters that Jimmy dreams up. Roles are available for two men and two women—one man and one woman must be able to believably play 14-year-old characters—as well as a child actor who can believably play a 12-year-old boy.

“Intimate Apparel,” a play by Lynn Nottage with Bay Street Artistic Director Scott Schwartz directing, is casting for a 35-year-old African-American woman, an African-American man in his 50s, a white woman in her 30s, a Romanian Orthodox Jewish immigrant in his 30s, a 30-year-old African-American woman and a 30-something Barbadian man.

“As You Like It,” Bay Street’s first full-fledged production of a Shakespeare play, will be directed by John Doyle and various roles for adults are casting.

Audition dates are January 29, and 30 at Bay Street Theater and February 2 and 3 at AEA Audition Center in Manhattan. For more information, visit baystreet.org.
