The Lords of 52nd Street will perform Billy Joel’s greatest hits at The Suffolk on Saturday, December 20, at 8 p.m.
The band features three of the legendary musicians who recorded on Joel’s classic albums: drummer Liberty DeVitto, guitarist Russell Javors and saxophonist Richie Cannata. Known as the most authentic Billy Joel tribute, the group began with the album “Turnstiles” and went on to record “The Stranger,” which included hits such as “Only the Good Die Young” and “Just the Way You Are.”
DeVitto, Cannata and Javors toured internationally with Joel, performing in arenas including Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium, Royal Albert Hall, the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. The band also appeared on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and the BBC’s “The Old Grey Whistle Test” in 1978. After a 30-year hiatus, they reunited following their induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2014 and have continued performing Joel’s legendary hits in live concerts.
Tickets are $35 to $75 at thesuffolk.org. The Suffolk is located at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.
