‘Le Fleur’ Back By Popular Demand

The East End Arts invitational exhibition “Le Fleur” is back in bloom.

Featuring a slate of regional photographers, the show — which was previously on view from August 1 to 27 — reopened September 12 for another three-week run through November 6 at the Southampton Cultural Center, located at 25 Pond Lane in Southampton.

“Le Fleur is a celebration of the scope of nature's floral grandeur,” according to curator Steven Schreiber. “Each photographer’s carefully chosen images seduce and stun, capturing the essence of nature’s magnificence, grace and elegance."

Two Big Causes, One Rockin’ Concert

Gene Casey, Sara Conway & The Playful Souls, Inda Eaton, Hoodoo Loungers, Hopefully Forgiven, Alfredo Merat and more will join forces to raise funds for the Sag Harbor Cinema and hurricane relief on Sunday, October 15, 2 to 4 p.m. at the Stephen Talkhouse, located at 161 Main Street in Amagansett.

Calling All Singers!

The Harvest Gospel Choir is not one for auditions.

All singers interested in a non-denominational celebration that connects community members while sharing the joy of music from the soul are welcome to register at the first rehearsal for the 31st annual concert on Saturday, October 14, at 6 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church, located at 59 Anchor Street in Flanders.

Led by artistic director Reverend Maryanne McElroy, the East End Arts Harvest Gospel Music Series features more than 70 singers and guest soloists, who have performed an eclectic mix of gospel music every year since 1986. For those interested in joining the tradition, you must be available for five rehearsals and two concerts.

All rehearsals will be held at the Friendship Baptist Church from 6 to 9 p.m. on the following Saturdays: October 14, 21, 28, and November 4 and 11.

Performances will be held on Friday, November 17, at 8 p.m. at the Mattituck Presbyterian Church, located at 12605 Main Road in Mattituck, and Saturday, November 18, at 8 p.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church, located at 59 Anchor Street in Flanders.

Up Close and Personal with ‘The Moth’

 

Fans of the storytelling podcast “The Moth: True Stories Told Live” can meet artistic director Catherine Burns and one of its hosts, Tara Clancy, during the next Writers Speak Wednesdays on October 18 at Stony Brook Southampton, located at 39 Tuckahoe Road in Southampton.

Writers Speak Wednesdays, which are free and open to the public in the Radio Lounge on the second floor of Chancellors Hall, begin with a reception at 6:30 p.m., followed by a reading at 7 p.m. and subsequent Q&A and book signing.

The conversation will be preceded by an open house and informational session at 5:30 p.m. for prospective MFA in Creative Writing candidates, as well as writers interested in the Children’s Literature Fellows program.
