Center Stage at Southampton Arts Center will hold open auditions for the Philip Grecian adaptation of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula, a Radio Play” on Sunday, May 4, at 5 p.m. at Southampton Arts Center, 25 Jobs Lane, Southampton.

Auditions begin promptly; late arrivals will be seen at the discretion of the director. Readings from the text will occur. Sides will be provided. Michael Disher directs.

Performances of “Dracula” will be held on two weekends, October 17 through the 26. Performance times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. Rehearsals will occur in September and October.

Bram Stoker’s brooding tale of seduction, power, eternal life, hungers and thirsts remains faithful to the source material. In all its gothic glory, this masterpiece is presented in radio format. Just in time for Halloween, “Dracula,” oddly enough, is seldom staged.

“I am drawn to gothic literature and Dracula may well be one of the finest examples of the genre. Plus, presenting literature on stage is important to Center Stage – and to me,” Disher stated.

Those auditioning should wear suitable clothing and shoes for an audition and have a flexible schedule. Most rehearsals are scheduled on Saturdays and Sundays during the day. Casting will be immediate as rehearsals begin in September. Minimal rehearsals, memorization required. Nonunion only. For further information, contact Michael Disher at mbentondisher@gmail.com.

The cast is for seven men and three women, Setting and Time: Transylvania, in the Carpathian Mountains and Whitby, England, 1888.

Williams — head attendant at Dr. Seward’s sanitarium.
