“Humans and Hides,” a solo exhibition of new work by artist Charles Ly, is now on view at Guild Hall in the East Hampton institution’s Education Corridor.

Oil-on-paper paintings inspired by patterns, pen-and-ink drawings of hair in different styles and forms, and a charcoal work by the Brooklyn artist, who grew up in East Hampton, will remain on display through November 5. A public opening reception will be held Thursday, September 15.

The reception will start at 6 p.m., followed by the inaugural Guild Gathering, a networking night for creative people hosted by Guild Hall in association with the East Hampton Arts Council, from 7 to 9 p.m. Five artists will give brief presentations, including Mr. Ly, Annette Danto, Dalton Portella, Alex Mankiewicz and Lisa Trivell.

Mr. Ly is also scheduled to give a Plant Patterns Workshop at Guild Hall on Saturdays, October 29 and November 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The $60 cost includes both sessions. Visit guildhall.org to register.
