kmenu@sagharborexpress.com on Jan 12, 2016

The Choral Society of the Hamptons will hold auditions for its next concert by appointment on January 18 at the East Hampton Presbyterian Church on Main Street in East Hampton. Interested parties should email info@choralsocietyofthehamptons.org, call (631) 204-9402, or visit choralsocietyofthehamptons.org.

The concert, also at the East Hampton Presbyterian Church, will be held on March 20 and will feature Fauré’s Requiem and Bach’s Cantata No. 4. Rehearsals will take place generally on Mondays from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Founded in 1946, The Choral Society of the Hamptons, with a repertoire of music by all the great choral composers, attracts members from across the East End. The Society has performed with renowned artists such as Dave Brubeck, Norman Dello Joio, Clamma Dale, and members of the Metropolitan Opera, and under the direction of conductors including John Daly Goodwin, Ifor Jones, and Gilbert Kaplan. The chorus has performed as far away as The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, and in New York City at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall, and for the annual Christmas-tree-lighting ceremony in Rockefeller Center. To further encourage choral music, the Society gives scholarships for musical training to talented singers in local schools.
