authorStaff Writer on Mar 18, 2022

In celebration of a return to communal singing following the pandemic-induced hiatus, the Choral Society of the Hamptons is mounting a three-part series of Sunday workshops designed for the experienced and beginner singer alike.

Presented in partnership with Southampton Cultural Center, each 90-minute session will focus on different areas of individual and group singing, led by expert vocal performers, choral conductors, and clinicians.

The Power Of Breath: Sunday, March 27 At 3 p.m.

This session is dedicated to vocal technique with a focus on breath support. Led by tenor Jeremy Little, principal artist with The Metropolitan Opera and member of The Met Chorus, and professor of voice at Stony Brook.

The Art Of Choral Singing: Sunday, April 3 At 3 p.m.

Led by choral conductor and voice teacher Shoshana Hershkowitz, a Stony Brook University artist-in-residence and conductor of the Stony Brook Chorale. This workshop explores healthy habits for ensemble singing.

Healing Through Music: Sunday, April 10 At 3 p.m.

This unique workshop features some light movement, yoga stretching and mindfulness practices to engage the whole body and mind in the healing act of communal singing. Led by choral conductor, health coach, confidence coach, yoga and mindfulness teacher Louise O’Hanlon.

Workshops are free for Choral Society members and students of all ages. Suggested donation of $10 per workshop (or $25 for all three) for adults. Tickets available online at choralsocietyofthehamptons.org

All three workshops will take place at the Southampton Cultural Center, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton. Masks and proof of vaccination status required. Open to all singers, no audition required.
