Clavin to host writing workshop in Montauk

author on Jun 23, 2009

Author Tom Clavin will conduct a writing workshop beginning Wednesday, July 1, at the Fort Pond House in Montauk.

The workshop will be held on seven Wednesdays through August 12, and each session will run for two hours, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Participants will be asked to read from works in progress, but beginners and those who intend to start projects are also welcome. Fiction, nonfiction and memoirs will be discussed and evaluated. When appropriate, Mr. Clavin will use excerpts from his previously published books as examples. Those include “The Last Stand of Fox Company,” a nonfiction book about a company of Marines in the Korean War, and “Roger Maris: The Life and Times of a Reluctant Hero,” to be released in February.

There is a limit of 10 participants in the workshop and the fee for the seven-week session is $100. To register, call Ed Johann at 668-5226 or Mr. Clavin at 604-1358, or show up on July 1. The first session is free.

For more information, or directions, e-mail Mr. Clavin at Hondo7@optonline.net.
