Pulitzer Prize finalist Colson Whitehead will kick off the annual “Fridays at Five” series on July 10 at the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton with a discussion of his book, “The Noble Hustle: Poker, Beef Jerky and Death,” a non-fiction account of the 2011 World Series of Poker.

The three-decade-long tradition of bringing well-known authors to the library in July and August begins every Friday at 4:30 p.m. with wine and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a reading, Q&A session and book signing reception. A single ticket is $20, or $80 for five. All proceeds and book sales benefit the library. For more information, call (631) 537-0015, or visit hamptonlibrary.org.

Additional “Fridays at Five” participants include:

July 17—Bonnie Verbitsky, “Home Cooked Hamptons,” with Walker Vreeland

July 24—Ken Auletta, “Lifetime Lessons Learned as a Journalist”

July 31—Florence Fabricant “Wine with Food: Pairing Notes and Recipes from the New York Times”

August 7—Frances Cole Jones, “How to Wow: Proven Strategies for Selling Your [Brilliant] Self in Any Situation”

August 14—Arlene Alda, “Just Kids from the Bronx: Telling It the Way It Was: An Oral History”

August 21—Brooke Shields, “There Was a Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me,” with Kathleen Marshall

August 28—Alice McDermott, “Someone: A Novel”
