Colson Whitehead will sign copies of his latest work, “Sag Harbor,” on Saturday, August 8, from noon to 2 p.m. at Azurefest in Sag Harbor. The signing will be a homecoming of sorts for Mr. Whitehead, who signed his first novel, “The Intuitionist,” at Azurefest in 1999.
Since then, Mr. Whitehead has published multiple novels and received numerous awards. He won a Quality Paperback Award and was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award, both for “The Intuitionist.” For his novel “John Henry Days,” Mr. Whitehead received the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award, the New York Library Young Lions Award, and the ALA Black Caucus Honor. He was also a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, the National Book Critics Circle award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prize. Mr. Whitehead was awarded the Whiting Writers Award in 2000 and a MacArthur Fellowship in 2002.
“Sag Harbor,” his latest novel, has been met with much critical acclaim. Publishers Weekly called the book a “funny and touching story,” while Booklist said the novel was “masterfully told … an unusually generous, wisely funny novel about good kids and a society’s muddled attempts to come of age.”
Azurefest, an annual gathering featuring local vendors, food, dance and music, will take place on Saturday, August 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Azurest Beach at Milton Avenue and Terry Drive in Sag Harbor.
