The combined handbell choirs of the Southampton, Bridgehampton and East Hampton Presbyterian churches will present a bell concert on Sunday, May 2, at 4 p.m. at the Southampton Presbyterian Church. As part of the “Third Annual Spring Ring,” handbell ringers will perform a variety of music demonstrating the many techniques of bell ringing.
Admission is by donation of non-perishable food and there will be a free-will offering, with all donations going to support local food pantries.
The three handbell choirs have a total of 35 members. Each group will be playing a few selections in addition to four combined numbers. Each group has its own director/conductor: Andrea Cooper for the East Hampton Presbyterian Church group; Tom White for the Bridgehampton group; and Midge Fowler for the Southampton group. A total of 16 pieces will be presented in the May 2 concert.
Each director will be conducting his or her own group; one director will conduct for the combined choir numbers. The four pieces that will be played by the combined choir are “Trumpet Voluntary,” “For All the Saints,” “Brethren We Have Met To Worship,” and “Lord Dismiss Us With Your Blessing.”
