Though The Watermill Center’s building remains closed to the public for the health and safety of its current artists-in-residence, the center is welcoming the community to come explore the gardens and grounds with an afternoon of workshops, live music, light refreshments and a scavenger hunt during Community Day @ The Watermill Center, on Saturday, October 24, from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

Guests are invited to explore the 10-acre property while searching for over 100 collection items curated amongst the gardens during the “Watermill Art Quest.” Join Watermill alum Katie Down for a “Sound Painting” movement workshop, while enjoying light refreshments including Mike’s Frybread and Sassafras Tea, and live music by Native American flutist Eric LaPointe, of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe.

Founded in 1992 by avant-garde visionary and theater director Robert Wilson, The Watermill Center is an interdisciplinary laboratory for the arts and humanities. Located at 39 Watermill Towd Road, The Watermill Center has diverse and evolving education initiatives that cultivate curiosity, wonder and encounters with the unexpected. The building, grounds and gardens provide a variety of locales and landscapes while The Watermill Center Collection — approximately 5,000 objects both contemporary and ancient from all parts of the globe — offers a source of inspiration.
