Update: Out of an abundance of caution, Sylvester Manor has made the decision to postpone The Fretless concert scheduled for Saturday, March 14. Given the uncertain, and evolving, COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, this decision prioritizes the health and well-being of the musicians, audience members, volunteers and staff.

The concert will be rescheduled for the band’s next U.S. tour which will take place in 2021. All ticket holders will be notified and issued a full refund. In the meantime, to see where The Fretless will be playing next, check out their website, thefretless.com/.

On Saturday, March 14, Sylvester Manor brings The Fretless to its Manor House Music Room for two acoustic performances. Winners of the 2017 Juno Award for Instrumental Album of the Year, this Canadian fiddle foursome is playing an essential part in the emerging movement mainstreaming traditional Irish folk music — just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

The Fretless harbors all the energy of fiddle tunes while shattering all expectations in writing, creativity and performance. Starting with its debut album in 2012, the band has steadily pushed further into the public eye, winning Instrumental Album of the Year at the Western Canadian Music Awards and Instrumental Group of the Year at the Canadian Folk Music Awards. Its 2014 tune “Waiving to Ryan” has topped 1.5 million Spotify plays. In 2017, The Fretless took home a Juno award for its most recent full-length studio album, “Bird’s Nest,” and in 2019 a Juno nomination for its follow up “Live From the Ant Farm,” a joyous recording that shows off why traditional folk music is finding an audience among the nontraditional, and also why The Fretless is leading the charge.

Tickets for The Fretless are $30 ($35 day of show) at sylvestermanor.org/music or 631-749-0626. Shows are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and seating is limited. Sylvester Manor is at 80 North Ferry Road, Shelter Island.
