Legendary rock drummer Corky Laing has seen a lot of places and met a lot of people since his big break in 1961. But on Saturday, May 18, he’s flying solo—coming out from behind his drum kit to recount his life in words and music at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor.
Mr. Laing—a Montreal native and co-founder of the iconic Mountain supergroup as well as band West, Bruce and Laing—wrote the rock anthem “Mississippi Queen.” His show at Bay Street will bring audiences behind the scenes of the Golden Age of Rock, which wasn’t always quite as golden as it might have seen.
Beginning with his innocent days on the Montreal sock-hop circuit, Mr. Laing will trace his career to its pinnacle during his East End set. Expect to learn even more about his collaborations with Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osborne, Meat Loaf, the Allman Brothers and dozens more.
