By Sunday, Celine Keating and Ed Johann hope to have raised $4,000 in order to publish a literary journal dedicated to Montauk, featuring 50 East End poets and authors.
According to Ms. Keating and Mr. Johann’s Kickstarter campaign, the writing “is diverse in style and wide-ranging with stories about the thrill of surfing, the dangers of fishing, to memories, history, and flora and fauna.” During a time, when the hamlet, known as “The End,” is experiencing tremendous change, the organizers hope this journal will help people hold on to what they love about Montauk.
Ms. Keating is an author who has been published in magazines and literary journals. Her debut novel, “Layla,” was published in 2011. “Play for Me” was published in the spring of 2015. Ms. Keating is also on the board of Concerned Citizens of Montauk (CCOM). Mr. Johann is also a local writer, active with the Montauk Writers’ Group and on the board of the Third House Nature Center.
As of Monday, November 9, the team had raised $2,535 of its $4,000 goal. To help fund the project, visit kickstarter.com/projects/589540657/the-end-a-montauk-celebration?ref=project_share.
