On Thursday, August 31, the new Contessa Gallery at the corner of Pond Lane and Hill Street in Southampton Village will host an opening night event for “Flirting With Danger,” an art exhibition by New York City-based photographer and multidisciplinary artist David Drebin. The opening night festivities will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. and will include culinary offerings by Caviar Russe, who is partnering with the gallery for the event.

“Flirting With Danger” will showcase a curated collection of Drebin’s most iconic pieces alongside his latest works which invite viewers to explore the enigmatic realms of love, desire and human emotions. Drebin’s signature cinematic style, characterized by emotional depth and narrative intrigue, has earned him a dedicated global following.

Drebin’s artistic journey has been interwoven with the support of Contessa Gallery owner Steve Hartman for a 19-year period. Their enduring collaboration has been a key factor in Drebin’s trajectory, evident in his successes at art fairs such as Art Miami, Art Hamptons, Art Chicago and the Armory Show. These events have provided pivotal platforms for Drebin to showcase his unique vision and distinctive artistic voice.

Contessa Gallery was the first to introduce David Drebin’s new media including Lightboxes, Neon Light Installations and 3D Sculptures to the world. Hartman’s mentorship has been instrumental in channeling Drebin’s commercial photography background into a successful career as a celebrated multidisciplinary artist.

“Steve Hartman’s invaluable contributions to my journey as an artist cannot be overstated,” David Drebin said. “There are ‘Star Makers’ and ‘Star Takers’… Steve is clearly a ‘Star Maker’ whose guidance and unwavering belief in my vision has paved the way for the successes I have enjoyed, especially during critical art fairs that have given my work a global stage.”

Contact art@contessagallery.com for an invitation to the August 31 opening night festivities. For more information about the “Flirting With Danger” exhibition or to explore the works of David Drebin, visit contessagallery.com. Contessa Gallery is at One Pond Lane in Southampton.
