LongHouse Reserve—a non-profit arboretum, art museum, sculpture garden, and educational organization based in East Hampton—will kick off its Jubilee year celebrations with a Winter Benefit, Design for Living, in Brooklyn on March 15. Guests will experience the thriving cultural heart of Williamsburg, at new arts focused venue National Sawdust, with a special performance by the renowned Nona Hendryx.

A highlight of this year’s benefit will be legendary textile designer and founder of LongHouse Jack Lenor Larsen presenting acclaimed architect Hugh Hardy with the LongHouse Award. Mr. Hardy, FAIA, is a Founding Partner of H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture. Mr. Hardy has built and reshaped America’s cultural landscape through architecture, with celebrated projects including those for the Lincoln Center Theater, the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the restoration of Radio City Music Hall..

The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception at National Sawdust. The evening will then continue with a discussion between Hugh Hardy and Peter Zuspan, founding principal of Bureau V, the Brooklyn-based firm that re-designed the National Sawdust building. Guests will then be treated to a performance from revolutionary Audio Visual Performance Artist Nona Hendryx, one of the founding members of Patti LaBelle & the Bluebelles, which then morphed into the groundbreaking group Labelle. Ms. Hendryx will bring her signature multimedia performance style to National Sawdust. The reception and performance will be followed by dinner and dessert for sponsors and patrons, by James Beard Award winning Chef Patrick Connolly.

Tickets are available for between $100 for those 35 and younger; $150 for a Friend ticket for the reception and performance; $600 for a sponsor ticket to the reception, performance and dinner; $1,200 for a patron ticket to the reception, performance and dinner. Tickets can be purchased by email at events@longhouse.org or by calling (631) 329-3568.
