The Southampton Historical Society will host the opening of a benefit “Doll and Toy Show and Sale” at the Rogers Mansion at 17 Meeting House Lane in Southampton on Saturday, July 17.
The museum will offer free admission only on opening day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; thereafter admission will be $4 for adults and free for children 17 and under. The show and sale will run through Saturday, August 21.
The estate sale of hundreds of collectible and modern dolls, teddy bears and pieces of dollhouse furniture is made up of items generously donated to help benefit the Southampton Historical Museum and The Toy Museum of New York. Early arrival is encouraged as a special “buy one, get one free” sale will be offered on opening day only.
The exhibit has been set up in the Red Barn at the Rogers Mansion, one of the properties of the Southampton Historical Museum. Visitors can enter via the Main Street Alley, part of which is occupied by Sant Ambroeus outdoor restaurant, or the Meeting House Lane entrance near the corner of Main Street.
The Red Barn has been decorated with antique furnishings and doll houses to showcase a wide variety of American and European made antique dolls, artist-made dolls, doll clothing, doll house furnishings, mechanical toys, wooden circus animals, toy soldiers and many, many items of interest to both young and old alike.
Many items are priced at $20 and under. The exhibit is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Saturday, August 21.
