East End Arts announced this week it will open a South Fork satellite of its School of the Arts in collaboration with the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center (BHCCRC). Starting in Fall, private and group music lessons will be offered on Saturdays at BHCCRC campus, 551 Sag Harbor Turnpike in Bridgehampton.
Since 1995, East End Arts experienced faculty members have been sharing the joy of music with beginners, advanced students and all levels in between on a wide variety of musical instruments. Lessons are open to the public and available to students of all ages and abilities. At its South Fork satellite location in Bridgehampton, the East End Arts School will offer private music lessons for children and adults in voice, violin, guitar, piano, and band and orchestral instruments. Programming will officially begin the week of September 12. In addition, group guitar lessons will be offered in Bridgehampton on Saturday mornings during the Fall 2016 semester, and more group lessons will be added in 2017. At its main Riverhead campus, the East End Arts School’s music program has 200 students each semester; as well as visual and other arts programming for children and adults of all ages and levels. Advance registration is required for all private and group music lessons by contacting the East End Arts School at education@eastendarts.org or (631) 369-2171.
“East End Arts is thrilled to have this opportunity to answer the demand for music instruction on the South Fork,” Diane Giardi, East End Arts Education Director said in a press release issued Monday. “By partnering with BHCCRC, we are able to better serve our East End community by offering a conveniently-located satellite of our School’s main Riverhead campus, and at the same time provide scholarships to local children who otherwise would not have the life-changing opportunity to learn a musical instrument.”
"I have always been passionate about music and its importance in educational development,” says Bonnie Michelle Cannon, Executive Director of the Bridgehampton Child Care & Recreational Center. “BHCCRC launched its music program in 2015 upon the success of our first Jazz for Jennings event and trumpeter, Jon Faddis' workshops for our kids that Summer. We are very excited to be able to expand to instruments beyond our keyboards with our new partnership with East End Arts. This is a fabulous opportunity to bring music into the lives of children and their families on the South Fork."
