East End Arts has announced that over 60 string students from across Long Island ages 8 through 18 studying violin, viola, cello, and double bass have been rehearsing throughout the month of July under the direction of EEA faculty member Jeannie Woelker in preparation for an Open Rehearsal opportunity to play under the baton of internationally acclaimed violin virtuoso and conductor Maestro Itzhak Perlman on Thursday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m. at Souhold High School, 420 Oaklawn Ave. in Southold.
“We are honored to collaborate with the Perlman Music Program again this year,” said East End Arts Education Director Diane Giardi. “This is truly a remarkable experience for our talented local students.”
Following the Open Rehearsal on Thursday, July 28, there will be a performance of the Perlman Music Program’s Student Orchestra and Chorus at 7:30 p.m. at the same location. Admission ticket is required for the 7:30 p.m. Perlman Music Program concert, and more information about this performance can be found at the Perlman Music Program’s website: http://perlmanmusicprogram.org/events.
