Sag Harbor’s favorite family band, Edna’s Kin, is back for its annual Sag Harbor concert. The performance will take place at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor.

The band, which plays classic Americana and Americana-inspired originals, has received acclaim for its recordings over the years. Edna’s Kin puts its own spin on bluegrass, country and the blues, and they also venture into rockabilly, rock & roll and Cajun styles. The band will showcase songs from their recordings at the concert, including “Mount Misery Breakdown,” inspired by the Sag Harbor neighborhood of that name.

Edna’s Kin is Dan Koontz on guitar, his brother Andrew on fiddle, and their father, Warren, on bass. Sag Harbor native Bruce Beyer joins the family on drums and other special guests will appear as well. They all sing and harmonize on traditional American acoustic folk and country music as well as their original music. Edna’s Kin’s bluegrass version of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” has received well over 100,000 views on YouTube. The group’s most recent release, 2022’s “Two Thumbs,” features seven songs penned by Dan Koontz, four songs by Andrew Koontz and two covers. CDs will be available at the performance for purchase.

The band’s concerts at Christ Church have become a popular tradition over the last 16 years, and are appropriate for all ages. Christ Episcopal Church is located at 5 East Union Street in Sag Harbor. Advance tickets are $10 at Canio’s Books, 290 Main Street in Sag Harbor, 631-725-4926, caniosbooks.com. If any tickets remain, they will be sold at the door for $15. All proceeds benefit Music at Christ Church. For further information, call Christ Episcopal Church at 631-725-0128.
