Can beans make wishes come true? The answer is a resounding “yes” in the award-wining production of “Jack & the Beanstalk” created by Michael Graham’s Spring Valley Puppet Theater, which will be brought to Bay Street Theater this Saturday at 11 a.m. by the Goat on a Boat Puppet Theater.

This popular classic features beautifully crafted hand and rod puppets, colorful scenic design, special effects and an original script in which Jack, with the help of a clever Chicken, saves the day. The Spring Valley Puppet Theater production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" holds many surprises in this new approach to this old favorite. Michael Graham's production of "Jack and the Beanstalk" was awarded in 1994 "Citation of Excellence in the Art of Puppetry" by UNIMA-USA, the American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette.

Mr. Graham has been performing since 1966 throughout New England primarily for schools and libraries. He designs and makes his puppets, writes scripts, creates the scenery and does a number of the voices. He has performed at regional and national festivals of the Puppeteers of America, Inc.. He graduated from Western Connecticut State College, and studied with renowned puppeteer Albrecht Roser from Stuttgart, Germany at the University of Connecticut.

Goat on a Boat will continue to celebrate the holiday season at its new home at Bay Street with a December 19th performance of Christmas Punch and Judy at 11 a.m. Punch and his lovely wife Judy have been married for centuries. The time has come for Mr. Punch to pitch in around the house. This hand-carved puppet duo will take over the kitchen in this hilarious Holiday domestic disaster that ends with a kiss. Join Liz Joyce & A Couple of Puppets for this age-old tradition that's still cookin’.

Tickets to both shows are $15 and discounted subscription rates are available. Goat on a Boat at Bay Street Theater is located at 1 Bay Street in Sag Harbor on Long Wharf. For more information, visit goatonaboat.org or baystreet.org.
