Coming up at The Depot Art Gallery in Montauk is “Inner Peace/Outer Beauty,” an exhibition featuring the work of artists Connie Cortese, Amy Pollack and Carl Scorza. The show runs August 15 to 26 at the gallery, which is located at the Montauk railroad station, and it opens with a reception on Saturday, August 17,from 5 to 7 p.m.

Abstract in nature, Connie Cortese’s work is influenced by the light, space and silence found in Montauk, the bucolic seaside fishing village on the East End which she lovingly calls home.

She uses several mediums to express her abstractions. Oil on canvas is her primary medium, which she uses to express intense color compositions of geometric abstractions and impressionistic landscapes.

An artist who is prolific in three distinct mediums — oil, pastels and watercolor — Amy Pollack’s works all depict the solitude of the natural beauty that surrounds her. Heavily featured in this exhibit are her watercolors and pastels. The lush colors, sometimes subdued, sometimes bold, evoke a quiet beauty that gives pause.

An oil painter, sunsets have been a recurring subject in Carl Scorza’s work, from some of his Governor’s Island paintings to more recent compositions, many set on the East End. This exhibit focuses on his love of light, landscapes and Long Island. His studio in Springs enables him to capture the beauty of the beach, lush landscapes and the Zen calm his environment affords him.

The Depot Art Gallery is located at Flamingo Avenue and South Edgemere Street in Montauk.
