Suffolk Theater in Riverhead welcomes back Foghat on Sunday, August 27, at 8 p.m. The band celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2021, and its live performances show why Foghat is still around and still rocking.

Formed in 1971 when Lonesome Dave Peverett and Roger Earl left the British blues-rock band, Savoy Brown, Foghat has earned eight Gold records, one Platinum record and one Double-Platinum record. Known best for hits “Slow Ride,” “Drivin’ Wheel,” “Honey Hush,” “I Just Want to Make Love to You,” the band continues to release new music every few years and has never stopped touring and recording, although there have been several ups and downs over the years. The group lost Lonesome Dave Peverett in 2000 and Rod Price in 2005, but Roger Earl has kept Foghat’s musical legacy going.

In May of 2023, Earl was inducted into the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Foghat’s live show offers incredible energy and musicianship that one would expect and hope for from a seasoned band with such a long musical history. Not content to rest on its laurels, the band released a new studio album in June 2016 titled “Under the Influence,” and another live album in June of 2017, “Live at the Belly Up,” followed by a double CD/DVD in 2021 called “8 Days on the Road.”

Tickets for Foghat are $69 to $99 at thesuffolk.org. Suffolk Theater is at 118 East Main Street, Riverhead.
