“Untitled,” a group exhibition featuring the work of four local artists — Adam Bundy, Mary Godfrey, Dean McNamara and Jason Poremba — will be on view at the Water Mill Museum from Thursday, July 3, through Sunday, July 20. The show opens with a reception on Friday, July 11, from 4 to 7 p.m.
The artists will each present their unique perspectives through photography and painting with work that explores themes of resilience, growth and community, drawing from personal experiences. This exhibition highlights both their diverse stories and shared themes of strength and connection, inviting viewers to engage with art’s power to unite and inspire.
Adam Bundy, a self-taught landscape and naturalist photographer, is a Marine Corps veteran who strives to share with others the unique and often overlooked magic of the natural world through the eye of his camera. Living full-time on idyllic Shelter Island, Bundy has an unbridled passion for the East End. His work has been featured in multiple magazines, newspapers and gallery shows, as well as garnering a large social media following.
Mary Godfrey, owner of Mary Godfrey Custom Framing and Photography on Jobs Lane in Southampton, said in a statement, “My landscape photography is a way to reconnect with nature and quiet the mind. I’m drawn to the forms and rhythms found in land, sea, and sky — shaped by time and revealed by light. Each image captures a fleeting moment that may never return, inviting viewers to pause, reflect and rediscover their own connection to the natural world.”
Jason Poremba, a local architect/artist, says, “At some point in our lives we scribble, doodle, color or glue things. We are all inherently artists.”
As long as he can remember, Poremba has been moving through life via mixed media. While in college, he expressed precedents in architecture through collage. At his firm Jason Thomas Architect, collage and mixed media are tools in which transparencies and colors are studied. His recent works are Pop Art and Street Art inspired images layered with Aztec, Mayan and personal symbolism. All of which express the journey of moving through love, pain, death and family alcoholism.
Poremba, along with Dean McNamara, have both been part of Southampton Fire Department for 25-plus years. McNamara, is the Village of Southampton fire marshal. Of his work, McNamara said, “For me, photography is about being out in the landscape — chasing light, weather and those rare moments when everything lines up just right. What started as a personal passion has become a way to see the world differently, especially through the use of drones. From high above or down on the ground, I’m always looking for the patterns, textures, and natural rhythms that make each place unique.
“My goal is simple: to share the raw, honest beauty of the land as I experience it.”
The Water Mill Museum is located at 41 Old Mill Road in Water Mill.
