The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center will screen “Brooklyn, Minnesota” on Monday, August 4, at 7:30 p.m. as part of its 2025 Summer Film Series. The screening was rescheduled from its original date of July 7.

Written and directed by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen, the film stars the couple’s daughter, Sadie Jensen-Blank. Following the screening, Blank, Jensen and producer Michael Cuomo will participate in a post-show discussion with the audience.

“Brooklyn, Minnesota” tells the story of Maisie (Sadie Jensen-Blank), a punk-loving 14-year-old who lives with her artist father, Kurt (Erik Jensen), in a cozy Brooklyn apartment shaped by the memory of her late mother, Carolyn. Their world is upended when Kurt’s estranged father dies unexpectedly — a man Maisie believed had been dead for years. Carolyn, who despised Kurt’s abusive father, had asked Kurt to keep him out of their lives.

The news sends father and daughter on a journey to Kurt’s rural Minnesota hometown, where Maisie meets extended family for the first time. As Kurt hopes for a quick return to Brooklyn, Maisie finds herself drawn to her grandmother Gail, her aunt Emma, who reminds her of her mother, and a local girl who opens her eyes to a different way of life.

The film also stars Amy Madigan, Cullen Moss, Jacob Moran, Heather Reddick, Ines Mojica, Joel Marsh Garland and Tom Kopache.

Tickets for the screening are $23 at whbpac.org or 631-288-1500. The Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center is at 76 Main Street in Westhampton Beach.
