From The LTV Archives

authorStaff Writer on Nov 19, 2021

The East Hampton Library will present “The LTV Archives: A Treasure Trove of Local History,” a lecture program on Wednesday, December 1, from 6 to 7 p.m. The program will be presented by Genie Henderson, LTV’s longtime archivist; and the author of “A Day Like Any Other: The Great Hamptons Hurricane of 1938,” in conversation with Brooke Kroeger, professor emerita of journalism at New York University, and an East Hampton Library Board member. The free program will be presented in person at the library and simultaneously live streamed via Zoom. The one-hour event will include a question-and-answer period, with questions taken from both the in-person and online audiences.

In interview format, Henderson will revisit the life of East Hampton town and village via LTV’s programming over the past 40 years and its rare vintage film finds that go back more than a century. The historic ’38 storm and its devastating impact will be a special focus of the evening, along with a quick look at the ambitious new partnership of LTV and the Library’s Long Island Collection, aimed at digitally preserving the best of LTV’s historic archive to make it accessible to all.

Admission is free. Advanced reservations are requested, as seating is limited. Registered attendees will receive a link via email on the day of the event (for those who wish to participate online).

Reservations may also be made at the Adult Reference Desk at the East Hampton Library, 159 Main Street, East Hampton, by phone at 631-324-0222 ext. 3 or by e-mail to reference@easthamptonlibrary.org.
