Garden Party Auction Will Honor The Late Eileen Roaman

authorJon Winkler on Jun 17, 2016

One of Sag Harbor's beloved citizens will be honored with a green-shaded slice of charity.

The Eileen's Angels Art Auction and Garden Party will take place on Sunday, June 26, at the Secret Garden at Landscape Details in Sag Harbor. The auction is meant to honor the memory of Eileen Roaman, a generous Sag Harbor resident and active East Hampton community member who died in 2013 at the age of 54.

Ms. Roaman was involved in community outreach programs including Project MOST and the Spring Seedlings Project, a children's gardening project at Springs School for which she built a greenhouse in 2008. Proceeds from the auction will be used to create an endowment in Ms. Roaman's name while other donations in her memory have been suggested to Project MOST After School and the Spring Seedlings Project.

The auction was created by David Lys, Ms. Roaman’s personal trainer, and Joe Realmuto, who worked with Ms. Roaman to build the greenhouse.

“Eileen was a force that made it happen. And it is still happening,” Mr. Realmuto said in a press release. “We have sustained her wishes and have grown this garden and greenhouse into a curriculum that has become the fabric of our children’s lives. Eileen wanted a garden classroom for the children of East Hampton and her enthusiasm was contagious. Seven years later the garden has grown into an education platform that includes a summer camp.”

The auction will run Sunday, June 26, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are available at Project MOST's website, projectmost.com.
