The Songwriters Share Concert Series at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse in Bridgehampton invites East End musicians to perform their music and tell stories about what inspired it. Proceeds from the performance goes to a local charity of each musician's choosing.

The series is now in its fifth season at the meetinghouse and the next featured guest on Friday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. will be Gene Casey, front man of The Lone Sharks.

Mr. Casey’s chosen beneficiary charity is the Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons. The not-for-profit organization is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick and injured turtles that are native to New York. The group's work is funded solely by charitable contributions.

In March, Gene Casey and The Lone Sharks played to a capacity house at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center for the third straight year. The band, which has been performing for three decades, played a mix of Mr. Casey’s acclaimed original songs as well as classic blues, country and early rock and roll that has delighted happy dancers for years.

Mr. Casey’s songs have been featured on the soundtracks of feature films, including “The Tall Man” starring Jessica Biel, “Killing Season” starring Robert DeNiro and Rob Reiner’s 2016 feature “Being Charlie.” His music has also been featured on television shows, including “Sons of Anarchy” and his self-produced recordings have found an audience around the globe.

In 2015 the Long Island Music Hall of Fame awarded Mr. Casey the Long Island Sound Award for “outstanding contributions to Long Island’s (and beyond) music community.”

While maintaining a busy performance schedule on Long Island and in New York, Mr. Casey also travels to Nashville several times a year to co-write with leading songwriters there as part of an on-going publishing arrangement.

Joining Mr. Casey on stage for his Songwriters Share concert will be vocalist Tricia Scotti and Pete Crugnale on upright bass. A reception will follow the concert. General admission is $20 ($15 for seniors and students).

The final concert of the 2019 series will be on June 7 when Nancy Remkus and Dan Koontz perform to to benefit the Sag Harbor Community Food Pantry.

The Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse is located at 377 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike.
