A multi-generational lens meets creative community expression in “Points of View: Small Works at the Library,” a new exhibition running July 3 through July 28 at the Springs Library. An opening reception for the show will be held on Sunday, July 6, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Curated by the mother-daughter duo of Andrea McCafferty and Sienna Hirschman, the show highlights a broad spectrum of artists and artistic approaches, showcasing works that are playful, provocative and deeply personal.
“If everybody had the same take on everything, the world would paint a pretty dull picture,” said the curators in a joint statement. “From contrast comes composition.”
Andrea McCafferty, co-owner of The White Room Gallery in East Hampton, has been curating exhibitions across the East End for over two decades. Her daughter, Sienna Hirschman, 20, a Springs native and alumna of the Springs School, steps into the role of curator for the first time here — bringing a fresh eye to the mix.
Together, they present a vibrant group of artists of varying ages, styles and mediums. The show is part of an ongoing series at the Springs Library aimed at supporting local art and fostering community dialogue.
Featured artists include:
Randy Rosenthal, Dennis Lawrence, Elaine Grove, Alison Seiffer, Andrea Sher, Beth Barry, Gerry Giliberti, Charles Waller, Mali Faulkner, Laurie Hall, Marketa Grant, Kym Fumer, Keira Atwell, Amanda Kraye, Michael Cardacino, Joanlee Montefusco, Carl Scorza, Rosalind Brenner, Sara Faulkner, Geralyne Lewandowski, Barry McCallion, Jennifer Cross, Tommy Lagrassa, Caren Sturmer, and Kristy Schopper.
A portion of proceeds from the show will be donated to the Springs Historical Society. Springs Library is at 1 Parsons Place in East Hampton. For details, visit springshistoricalsociety.org.
