Journalist, design expert and part time Sag Harbor resident Wendy Moonan will be at Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton on Thursday, August 1, at 5:30 p.m., to discuss New York’s best residential spaces, many of which are highlighted in her new book, “New York Splendor: The City’s Most Memorable Rooms.”

In  her book, Mrs. Moonan takes readers on a tour of spaces by the design stars of today, as well as rooms that no longer exist, but are remembered by the design cognoscenti. Some are grand, others sparingly modern or eclectic, but all are exceptional and unforgettable. Groundbreaking interiors include Brooke Astor's elegant library by Albert Hadley; Gloria Vanderbilt's sublime patchwork bedroom; Donald Judd's dramatically spare art-filled loft; fashion designer Adolfo's opulent uptown rooms; a Peter Marino–designed penthouse atop the Four Seasons hotel; Susan Gutfreund's own lavish winter garden; and Jamie Drake's stunning designs for Gracie Mansion, home of the city’s mayor.

Other interior designers and architects represented in the book include Mario Buatta, Robert Couturier, Albert Hadley, Denning & Fourcade, Mark Hampton, Philip Johnson, Charlotte Moss, Thomas O’Brien, Paul Rudolph, Bunny Williams, Brian J. McCarthy, and Steven Gambrel.

Wendy Moonan’s articles on architecture, design and antiques have appeared in Town & Country, The New York Times, Architectural Digest, andHouse & Gardenfor over 30 years. Rogers Memorial Library is at 91 Cooper’s Farm Road, Southampton. For more information and to register for her talk, call (631) 283-0774 ext. 523 or visit myrml.org.
