On Friday, September 1, at 8 p.m., Suffolk Theater in Riverhead presents the 50th anniversary of Glen Burtnick’s Summer of Love concert.
This concert will celebrate the classic rock and soul of the Woodstock generation. Glen Burtnick’s Summer of Love is an authentic rock festival on one stage, and includes 16 dynamic performers comprising featured vocalists, a horn section, strings, keyboards, background vocalists and an incredible rock rhythm section.
The psychedelic lighting and video show enhances this performance. The concert re-creates both the songs and the spirit of an era that has influenced life, fashion, attitudes and language.
Performances will include music from classic artists such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dylan, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Marvin Gaye, Joe Cocker, Santana, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, The Temptations, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Band, Jefferson Airplane, Curtis Mayfield, The Association, The Turtles, The Beach Boys, Mamas and the Papas, Grateful Dead, Country Joe, Procol Harum, Melanie, Ike & Tina Turner, The Rascals, Chicago, Otis Redding and Sly and the Family Stone.
