Virtual Reality is coming to The Church! On Thursday, January 12, at 4 p.m., students ages 10+ are invited to join in a special VR experience at The Church in Sag Harbor offered in conjunction with the Long Island Science Center. Four Oculus Quest headsets will be available, and each participant will have a total of 30 minutes in VR, broken into two 15-minute intervals. Additional activities will be available during the time between intervals including drawing and basic printmaking. Explore creativity and a wide variety of exciting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) curriculum as experienced through Virtual Reality.
Students will be able to uncover the hidden songs of the cosmos in “Spheres,” dive into the depths of the marine world in “Ocean Rift,” set out on an expedition to Antarctica in “Nat Geo Explore VR” and stand in the footsteps of Neil Armstrong and explore the solar system in “Star Chart.” The possibilities are endless and the full library of applications also includes “Space Time,” “Raising a Rukus,” “Breaking Boundaries in Science,” “Gadgeteer,” “Dino’s,” “Gravity Lab,” “Ecosphere” and “Adam Savage’s Tested.”
The cost is $5 with advanced registration required at thechurchsagharbor.org. Participants must be age 10+ and will require signed permission from a parent/legal guardian. Those who suffer from nausea, epilepsy or seizures are advised to not partake in this session. The Church is at 48 Madison Street in Sag Harbor.
